SPOOL KNITTING WORLD GROWS

Prices have soared
for many vintage spool knitters, particularly
in the countries where they are more
commonly found - Germany and France.

(Spool Knitters/Stricklieseln from Germany)

(Spool Knitters/Tricotins from France)

The vintage "Knitting Nancy" made
by Spear & Sons has become extremely
desirable, the demand and price has put
them out of the reach of some.
(Recently one sold for nearly AU$500!)

The world of spool knitter collecting has
grown.

The membership of my spool knitting group
on Flickr continues to grow.

There are now a series of books
by Editha Fischer (German text)..........and in the current issue of Australian magazine
Country Threads - Kids Special, there is an
article on vintage Knitting Nancies.

...And my collection grows!!

you should write to Country Threads about your collection - isn't there some kind of pressie if your letter gets published ??
Shame that they didn't interview you for the article though :{

My grandson (6 1/2) is hooked on knitting (and complex origami). I want to get him a book of ideas (more pictures than text) to go with a knitting nancy I'm ordering. Any suggestions?

Thankyou for your comment - I think that a good book for your grandson would be - Corking - by Judy Ann Sadler published in 1998. Try Ebay or Amazon.....cheers!
